The Ozark Crisis was an intermicronational conflict between the Republic of Ethosia, and the Hellenistic Empire of Cimbrun that started on 10 March, 2022. It was a part of the larger Lavian Secession Crisis.

Background

The Federal Republic of Lavallette declared independence on 10 March 2022 from the Ausverian Volksrepublik shortly after the Ausverian annexation of the now defunct territories of Todt Hill. Ausverian allies such as the Republic of Ethosia were quick to support the war effort, with Ethosia pledging diplomatic support, and military support for Ausveria should they be invaded. The Hellenistic Empire of Cimbrun, a close neighbor to Ethosia, declared their support for the rebels. The leader of Cimbrun was also an MP in the Ethosian Parliament.

Timeline

At 13:50 CST, 11 March 2022, the Presidential Cabinet of the Republic of Ethosia was notified of a brewing situation between the Hellenistic Empire of Cimbrun, and the Republic of Ethosia. Soon after, Ethosian representatives met with Ausverian representatives to discuss and sign a treaty between the two incase of conflict,[1] as Cimbrun was allied with the Republic of Nexus, and the Directionist Bloc.

Then, at 15:30 CST, 11 March 2022, the President of Ethosia formally requested a written document from Cimbrunese officials stating that they would not provide military or diplomatic support for the Lavallette rebels. The Folkalder of Gasconade pledged Gasconadian support to their historic ally Ausveria.

Cimbrun Threatens Invasion

After the Ethosian request for Cimbrun to stay neutral, it appeared that peace prevailed when Cimbrunese officials released their Decree Regarding the Lavallette War[2], where they stated that Cimrbun would stay neutral and that it would not recognize Lavallette rebels. The guarantee of peace was not to be however, as the Prime Minister of Ethosia proposed sanctions against Cimbrun because they "forced our hand" in the Lavallette Secession Crisis, where then the Cimbrun leader threatened to invade Ethosian lands.

Later that evening, Team 4 attempted to raid the Ethosian Discord server, this was seen by Ethosian officials as a direct confrontation, and escalation of the conflict. The leader of Cimbrun relinquished their Ethosian citizenship and their position in the Ethosian Parliament, and reminded Ethosian officials on the possibility of invasion. The Prime Minister of Ethosia personally negotiated with the leader of Cimbrun, where the Cimbrun leader admitted to being wrong, but then threatened the Prime Minister with guns and community backlash.

That caused everything reached up to that point to break down, which escalated even more when a former micronationalist, Ashton Mattingly, joined the discussion against the leader of Cimbrun. The Ethosian Parliament then passed the Sanction of Cimbrun Act, 2022, which sanctioned Cimbrun leaders, and the Cimbrun government.

Cimbrun Stands Down

At 23:19 CST, 11 March, 2022, Titania Smith, who negotiated with Cimbrun on behalf of Ethosia, announced on her Twitter page "On behalf of [Cimbrun], a formal apology has been written [3]. They are leaving the community due to recent events but wished to remain true to their word by issuing a formal apology to [Nova] and [Ethosia]. I am happy to have negotiated this peace."[4] The apology letter also included a clause that disbanded the Hellenistic Empire of Cimbrun.

Aftermath

The Crisis showed the micronational community how far Ethosia had gone since their inception in 2020. There was some conversation in the Ethosian Discord server that Ethosia should claim former Cimbrunese lands, this was however completely rejected by Ethosian authorities. Overall, Ethosians, and more generally residents of the Ozark Sector were rejoiced to hear that peace had finally come to fruition, and that threats of foreign invasion were quieted.
