DoveArchives:Cross Wiki Compatibility

It has come to our attention that the majority of new users of the DoveArchives directly come from users leaving MicroWiki. So here we will clear up on a few misconceptions about our own site and about MicroWiki, whilst teaching users how to migrate their articles over to either site; You would'nt put all of your eggs in one basket would you? Originally, the DoveArchives wasn't supposed to be used by anyone else other than the government of Republic of The Sohnland originally.

This is why we borrowed code over so migrating articles over would minimize the likelihood of errors. So in accordance with their own licenses regarding the use of their code, we thank them for actually making the DoveArchives possible.

Differences between MicroWiki and the DoveArchives

There aren't many differences. Both sites use MediaWiki software and function almost identically to one and another. Our differences are merely regarding certain policies. Some notable examples explained simply: On MicroWiki, whatever you upload is no longer yours, any user is free to edit your articles be it for the better or worse. On the DoveArchives that isn't the case. Here, users are at any time able to request page protections or deletions. They can also edit their own articles according to any style they wish. Although we still advise you abide by the manual of style, but the choice is yours. When it comes down to it, the only difference is the site administration.

Misconceptions

• Is the DoveArchives a competitor to MicroWiki?

No, our site was not created as a direct response to MicroWiki or to compete with it. The DoveArchives is here merely to be an alternative wiki site for micronations.

• Do I own articles I make on the DoveArchives?

Yes and no to put it simply. However, you as an article author have more freedoms to do what you want with your own articles. You are able to request page deletions or protections without justification. Plus the manual of style isn't mandatory, just advised. You still have to follow the rules of the DoveArchives.

• Can I move my articles from MicroWiki?

Yes you absolutely can. Although it is recommended to add the corresponding top icon used to provide the original source of the article material. Unless you completely change the article unrecognisable or fundamentally alter the new article. How to move articles over

Here is how you migrate articles to or from the DoveArchives in easy to follow steps.

Step one: Go to the article of which you want to move.

Step two: Edit the article by clicking on alt + shift + E then ctrl + a to highlight all code and text, then press ctrl + c.

Step three: Go to the site you want to move the article to and either create new page or edit page that shares the name of the article you are moving. For moving Modules and templates, please be aware that page titles are case sensitive.

Press alt + shift + E then ctrl + v then make sure you followed all steps correctly before saving the page.
