Micropatriology is the study of micronationalism. It was coined as micropatrology in 1973 by the International Micropatrological Society (IMS) as the "study of small countries," with the i introduced by about 1998. It is analysable through surface etymology as micro- + Ancient Greek patro ("father") + λόγος (lógos, "knowledge")—"study of small fathers."
